In addition to my TV and DVD player, can I view my DVD on my home computer?
Yes, if your computer has playback software - recommended
software can be downloaded for free at: Cyberlink
What if my disc will not
work in my player? Is it true there are compatibility problems with recordable
DVD formats, namely DVD-R vs DVD+R?
MP Video Production produces DVD's on a
DVD-R disc, which are high quality, state-of-the-art products. DVD players
3-years old or newer will play our discs. If your player is older than that,
please check your manual for the format that would be most compatible with your unit. I
will be happy to exchange for a DVD+R if the DVD-R is not compatible.
Before returning, be certain you are
following the care guidelines below. I cannot exchange for customer mishandling
as all discs are vulnerable to scratches and fingerprints, so you should always
store your DVD's in their case.
Quick
Reference Guide for Care and Handling of any DVD product:
D0:
 |
The
best disc-cleaning solvent is deionized water, but even distilled or soft tap
water or the moisture of your breath and a SOFT cloth can work in a pinch.
Diluted dish detergent or rubbing alcohol can remove tougher contaminants. |
 |
Never use any organic solvent, polish, antistatic solution, or cleanser that
you suspect might attack or coat the plastic surface. In all cases, be sure to
wipe the disc with water and dry with a cloth to avoid staining or residue;
use a soft, lint-free cloth or photographic lens tissues. |
 |
Always wipe discs in a radial motion, moving in straight lines between the
center hub and the outer edge. Almost any type of cleaning will leave
microscopic scratches, but a DVD's error-correction mechanism can compensate
for thin scratches that cross a data path at a right angle. Wiping discs in a
circular motion can leave scratches that cover a longer span of data and may
not be correctable. |
 |
Do store discs
upright (book style) in plastic cases specified for CDs and DVDs. |
 |
Do return discs to
storage cases immediately after use. Do
handle discs by the outer edge or the center hole. |
D0 NOT:
 |
Do
not touch the surface of the disc. |
 |
NEVER clean by wiping in a direction going around the disc; a circular motion
can damage the disc |
 |
Do
not expose discs to extreme heat or high humidity or rapid temperature or
humidity changes. |
 |
Do
not expose recordable discs to prolonged sunlight or other sources of
ultraviolet light. |
 |
Do
not write or mark in the data (silver) area of the disc (the area the laser
"reads"). |
 |
Do
not store discs horizontally for a long time (years). |
